One for One Rule

If you're new to minimalism and you're not quite sure where to start, try the One for One Rule.
The One for One Rule is the idea that every time you bring in a new purchase, such as a sweater, you donate or get rid of one item. I personally use the One for One Rule in the same category. For example, every time I buy a new book, I donate one old book I have sitting around. Until I started using this rule, my possessions were out of control. However, don't feel obligated to follow the rule like I do. Feel free to mix it up!
The idea of this is to help keep my possessions in check and to make sure I don't retain more items than necessary.
I'll also try to practice the One for Two Rule, especially when it comes to clothing. Maybe it's just me, but it seems I'm able to fill a closet full of clothing in a short matter of time. This rule helps to keep my closet under control.
Do you practice the One for One Rule?

Simply Yours,
