Simple Spring Cleaning

Monday, April 25, 2016

If you want to do a quick spring cleaning, here's a list of things you can quickly get rid of:

1. Clothes you no longer wear
If you're like me, you probably have a portion of your clothes that you no longer wear. Get rid of them! If you're not wearing them, they're not useful and are just taking up closet space.

2. Papers that are no longer useful
Now that tax season is over, you may have some leftover paperwork cluttering your space. I suggest shredding or safely disposing of personal paperwork, you never know who may be looking through the trash. It may sound neurotic, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

3. Gifts you don't really use
It's the thought that counts when it comes to gift giving, but if you received a gift that doesn't work for you in some way, it's alright to give it away or regift it. Your friend bought it thinking that you would have some use for it, why not give it to someone who will have use for it?

4. Items that are no longer sentimental
The few knickknacks I have, mean something special to me. Over the years, I've gotten rid of sentimental items that no longer bring me joy. I used to feel guilty over this, but I've learned to cherish the memories, not the item. The object will no longer be there, but the memory behind it will be.

5. Copious amounts of holiday decor
Personally, I don't get joy over having boxes and boxes of holiday decor. I like a few simple touches here and there, instead of tinsel everywhere. If the decorations aren't worth the work, I say get rid of them.

Happy Spring (Cleaning)!
