The Start of My Yearly Winter Hygge

A view from the cabin

Sometimes life gets in the way and I need to reorientate myself.
This past weekend, I went to visit my parents and our property on the west side of Michigan with a close friend of mine.

Although our cabin has modern amenities such as electricity and running water, it was such a nice escape. We had to keep a fire going to keep us warm, including going outside to collect our kindling and wood.
I didn't mind waking up a few times during the night to add more wood or start another fire.

My friend and I also had a lot of good conversations. We've both been going through stressful times lately, and it was such a great feeling to know that I have such great support in my life.

Once my friend left to go back to her daily life, I stayed a few extra days with my parents. I truly am lucky to have the family and support that I do. There's always something about going back to visit our property that makes me feel whole and relaxed. It was just what I needed to start my winter season of hygge.
